WSQ FLORISTRY

The Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) is a national credential system that trains, develops, assesses and recognises adult workers for competencies needed to stay employable. With clear progression pathways, workers can use the training for this qualification to upgrade their skills: Certificate > Higher Certificate > Advanced Certificate > Diploma.

1. WSQ CERTIFICATE IN FLORISTRY OPERATIONS

This unit provides Learners with knowledge in recognising and selecting flowers and plant materials for use in commercial floristry including knowledge in plant structure and characteristics.

Duration:   24 hours
This course comprises 6 sessions x 4 hours (5 training lessons + 1 Assessment)

Learners will be awarded Statement of Attainment (SOA) if they achieved at least 75% attendance, and having passed the assessment and certified competent through the assessment.

This unit equips the floristry worker with the skills and knowledge required to identify flowers and plant materials, including the foliage, and their seasonal availability, lifespan, features and characteristics, as well as their application in floral design.

Duration: 24 hours
This course comprises 6 sessions x 4 hours (5 training lessons + 1 Assessment)

Certification:
Learners will be awarded Statement of Attainment (SOA) if they achieved at least 75% attendance, and having passed the assessment and certified competent through the assessment.

This unit equips the floristry worker with the skills and knowledge to apply the elements of design to a floral product, including the use of drawing and sketching skills to enhance the florist’s ability to interpret and prepare graphic illustrations of proposed floral designs. It teaches the principles of composition, unity, proportion, accent, balance, harmony and rhythm as applied in the various floral design forms.

This unit provides Learners with knowledge in the application of artistic elements and principles of designs to internationally and locally recognized floral design forms and floral styles. Design techniques used in floristry to display artistry, creativity and craftsmanship will be taught.
